About Dannish Odongo

Dannish Odongo is an author, speaker, trainer, moderator and journalist. He founded the Wellness Tribe, an organization dealing with governance and mental health in Kenya. He has promoted the inclusion of marginalized voices—young people, women, and people with disabilities—in policy spaces for over eight years.

Before specializing in social change, Odongo built a solid corporate and media professional career in Kenya. As a Regional Marketing Officer at a national SACCO, he managed 10,000+ clients, refining his leadership and strategic communication skills. He then thrived in media as a journalist and digital strategist, covering major stories like the 2017 elections and working with top brands like NCBA, Safaricom, EABL, and ABSA Bank.

Leadership Through Insight and Action

A prolific author and sought-after commentator, Odongo has appeared in leading media houses, including BBC UK, NTV, Citizen, KTN, The Elephant, and The Star, on mental health, governance, democracy, and societal wellbeing. His 2019 book, Unbreakable, delved into the intersection of mental health and poor governance, and it sold thousands of copies and sparked vital conversations.

As a professional moderator, Odongo has chaired panel discussions at the highest level with international visitors, ensuring reflective discussion. He also hosts a weekly show on KTN, Kenya’s third largest TV station, using its countrywide reach to lead discussion on governance and societal progress.

His technical knowledge has landed him roles in government and non-governmental technical working groups, advising on policy in areas of mental health, youth involvement, and job creation. As Chairperson of the PLGP Alumni Network, he organizes 500+ changemakers advocating for public goods, like efficient public transport.
